In the Championship participated 1000 young sportsmen from 47 European countries, including 12 Georgian sportsmen. Members of the delegation, including the referees and coaches, within the overall championship Georgia hosted 1 500 people. European Youth Championship was held in "New Tbilisi”, in the Athletics Arena in Dighomi.

According to the organizers of this international event, Championship was historical event for Georgia because for the first time Tbilisi hosted the European Youth Championship. The main competitor was Italy for the hosting, but the European Athletics Federation Congress’s decision was made in favor of Georgia.
European Athletics Youth Championship winner with the overall number of medals was Great Britain’s team. As for Georgia, the athletes Badri Kimadze showed the best result, who’s shot put was in 5th place. Overall 28 countries won medals for participating in the Championship
